Nokia today unveiled the Nokia 7, a new mid-range handset from the company packing some features found in its current flagship — the Nokia 8. The handset comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD display, 3000mAh battery, and a 16MP rear shooter with an f/1.8 aperture.

The handset will first launch in China, with no word from the HMD Global-owned Nokia on when the device will launch in other markets of the world. Made from glass and aluminium like almost every other premium phone out there, the Nokia 7 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 chipset. The front of the phone is entirely dominated by its 5.2-inch Full HD display. A 5MP f/2.0 selfie shooter sits above the display. The rear of the phone houses the fingerprint scanner and a 16MP f/1.8 shooter with dual-LED flash. As seen on the Nokia 8, the Nokia 7 also features “Bothie” which allows one to take photos or videos using the front and back camera at the same time.

Other specs of the Nokia 7 include 64GB of storage, 4/6GB RAM, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.2, and a 3.5mm jack. The handset will be running on Android Nougat out of the box but has been promised an Oreo update. The 4GB RAM variant of the Nokia 7 has been priced at RMB 2,499, while the 6GB variant will come in at RMB 2,699. It will go up for sale on October 24, with no word from Nokia on its international availability.

Slowly but steadily, Nokia has definitely managed to create a name for itself in the Android smartphone market. While the company is nowhere near its zenith, it is still doing pretty well for a newcomer with limited resources in the fiercely competitive smartphone market.
