Honor today unveiled its latest mid-range handset featuring an 18:9 bezel-less display, the Honor 7X. Successor to the Honor 6X from last year, the 7X features a 5.93-inch FHD+ (2160 x 1080) display with thin top and bottom bezels.

The 7X features a unibody aluminium body with an IP67 certification which makes it dust and water-resistant. The fingerprint scanner is also located at the rear of the device. Inside the 7X is Huawei’s own Kirin 659 chipset. This is paired with 4GB RAM, 32/64/128GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. The dual-camera setup at the rear features a primary 16MP sensor and a 2MP secondary camera used for capturing depth information.

This combination allows the 7X to offer a plethora of camera modes including Portrait mode similar to that of the iPhone 8 Plus, OnePlus 5, and others. At the front, there is an 8MP selfie shooter. The device is powered by a 3340mAh battery and features Huawei’s SuperCharge tech. While the Honor 7X does sport the latest and greatest internals for a mid-range device, Huawei has strangely decided to go with a microUSB port on the device.

When it comes to software, the Honor 7X runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with Emotion UI skin on top of it. There was no word from Huawei as to when one should expect the Oreo update for the device. The Honor 7X will be available in China in Aurora Blue, Midnight Black, and Platinium Gold colors. Pre-orders start from October 17, with the 32GB and 64GB variant being priced at 1,299 yuan and 1,699 yuan.

Like in the past, we should see Huawei/Honor launch the Honor 7X in India and other European markets towards the end of this year or early next year.
