An Acer roadmap that was leaked by the Germany website ComputerBase has now been taken offline, but the images remain on TechKiddy. The key device to pay attention to is the “Liquid S2”. If you recall, the Liquid S1 was a 5.7 inch 720p MediaTek powered device announced back in June for a suggested retail price of around 330 Euros. This S2 on the other hand, it kicks things up a few notches.
First, the screen. Not only has been bumped up to 5.98 inches, but it’s also a full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) panel. And as for the processor under the hood, so long MediaTek, and hello Qualcomm! Not just any Qualcomm chip either, but the flagship Snapdragon 800. There’s also 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage. All that should cost 600 Euros whenever it starts shipping.
The photo says August, but I have my doubts.
How does the S2 stack up against the Galaxy Note III? It’s 0.2 inches larger, has 1 GB less RAM, and it’ll probably lack stylus support. Which should you buy? I’ve never owned an Acer product in my life, so I can’t say anything about their products, but let’s just say I have a sneaking suspicion that the Note III will get better supported and ship many many (many!) more millions of units.
