Taking on the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG V30 and their bezel-less design, Xiaomi today launched the Mi Mix 2. The original Mi Mix started the bezel-less trend last year with other companies following suit.
Xiaomi has somehow managed to magically reduce the bezels on the Mi Mix 2 even further and improved other aspects of the device as well. Featuring a ceramic body that is curved on all sides and an aluminum frame, the Mi Mix 2 now sports a 5.99-inch 18:9 aspect ratio display.
Xiaomi has somehow managed to reduce the bottom bezel on the device by another 12 percent when compared to the original Mix. Even more impressive is the fact that Xiaomi has managed to hide the speaker and the proximity sensor from the front of the device. It has able to achieve this by using a cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology which resonates the sound through the metal frame and delivers it through the screen itself.
While the original Mix was more of a concept phone, Xiaomi did not pay much attention to its internals and other aspects. This time around, the company is not making such a mistake and has put Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 835 chip inside it along with 6GB RAM. The handset also comes with a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor featuring 4-axis OIS and 1.25um large pixels. This is the same camera that Xiaomi has used on the Mi 6.
The Mi Mix 2 also features support for global LTE bands so even if Xiaomi does not sell the handset outside of China, you can still import one and use it in your country. Xiaomi will be offering four different variants of the Mi Mix 2, including one special edition. The three regular variants come with 6GB RAM and 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB of storage space and are priced at RMB 3299, RMB 3599, and RMB 3999. The special Mi Mix 2 comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage for RMB 4699.
