Google Maps can remember where you park your car when you get to the place you want to go, and now it can even help you find the spot to park in the first place.
Google announced a new feature to Google Maps, which, for several cities in the United States, will make it easier than ever before to find a parking spot. To get it to work, you’ll just need to put in a destination, and, once that’s done, there will be an option in the Google Maps for Android app that will let you “find parking.” Selecting that will then bring up a list of nearby parking garages and lots.
Once you pick one, Google Maps will then quickly bring up navigation to get there. Once you arrive, Google Maps will show users walking directions to your intended destination. The new feature is rolling out to 25 cities in the United States: Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas/Fort Worth, DC, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, San Diego, Sacramento, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa.
On top of that, Google is also rolling out its parking difficulty icon to more cities across the globe. Here are the cities that now have this particular feature in place for Google Maps on iOS and Android: Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas/Fort Worth, DC, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, San Diego, Sacramento, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa.
