A teardown of the Google app 7.10 reveals that Google is working on a pair of ‘Bisto’ headphones running Google Assistant. The strings from the teardown reveal that the headphones can be used to directly ask questions to Google Assistant or ask it to do things.
In addition, other strings confirm that the Bisto headphones can be used to hear and directly reply to incoming notifications all through Google Assistant.
<string name=”bisto_magic_pairing_assistant_prop_text”>”Your headphones have the Google Assistant. Ask it questions. Tell it to do things. It’s your own personal Google, always ready to help.”</string
The headphones will also have several physical buttons, with one of them being used to trigger Google Assistant. This button can also be long pressed by a user before they start speaking their query.
Other strings in the Google app suggest that the Bisto headphones will receive firmware updates through OTA.
Since the launch and success of AirPods, there has been an uptick in earphones powered by smart assistants. Samsung is also rumored to launch its own Bixby powered earphones and if the APK teardown of the latest Google app is anything to go by, Google is also preparing to jump on the bandwagon.
