After months of speculation, Google today finally confirmed that Android 8.0 will be called Oreo when it unveiled an Android theme statue of the dessert at an event in New York City. The company had to license the name from Nabisco.
The Oreo statue has a superhero motif and looks pretty rad. While Android 8.0 was always in strong contention of being called Oreo, Google has had a habit of going with less obvious names. This time around though, the company went with the obvious choice likely due to its sheer popularity.
