Android O

Google today launched a teaser site hinting at the impending launch of Android O on August 21st, the same day the solar eclipse is happening on Monday. Google had released the final Developer Preview of Android O around three weeks ago.

Along with the launch, Google will also be unveiling an Android statue based on the theme of the final name of Android O like it has done in the past for every major Android version release. While previous versions of the Android statue have been revealed in Googleplex, Google has started unveiling them in new locations related to the name of the dessert starting from Nougat last year.

When the final version of Android O drops, it will be available for the Google Pixel and Pixel XL initially, with the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Pixel C, and the Nexus Player getting it in the coming weeks.

Google will be live-streaming the unveiling event of Android O which will be held in New York City at 2:40PM ET.
