Qualcomm today announced its next-generation Spectra ISP featuring improved biometric authentication and high-resolution depth sensing. The new ISP will allow for smartphones to better perceive depth and is also suited for head mounted displays.

It now features new hardware and software architecture for further advancements in computer vision, image quality, and power efficiency. It features multi-frame noise reduction, hardware-accelerated motion compensated temporal filtering, and inline EIS for excellent video recording quality.

There’s also Qualcomm’s new and improved Spectra Module which now features improved camera modules offering “superior biometric authentication, and structured light for a variety of computer vision applications that require real-time, dense depth map generation and segmentation.”
