Huawei Mate 9 - Mate 10

The Huawei Mate 10 is expected to be the company’s next big thing, following in the footsteps of the Mate 8 and Mate 9. While there’s very little that we know about the handset, the company CEO, Richard Yu, has spilled some details on the handset.

As per Yu, the Mate 10 will come with a “much longer battery life, with a full-screen display, quicker changing (sic) speed, better photographing capability and many other features that will help us compete with Apple“. He also claimed that it would be an “an even more powerful product” compared to the iPhone 8. It’s likely that the CEO meant “charging speed” here, and his quote was probably mixed up by the original source.

Given that the two predecessors were launched in November 2015 and 2016 respectively, it’s fair to assume that Huawei will wait until November this year to unveil the flagship. This is basically the only information we have on the Huawei Mate 10 right now as it’s still some distance away from an official release.

The Mate 10 is expected to be packing the company’s new Kirin 970 chipset by default, which is expected to offer the best in terms of CPU performance. Yu didn’t discuss the performance of the new processor during the course of the event, though. The mention of better battery life would simply mean that the device would be packing a mammoth battery unit with some under-the-hood software tweaks to increase overall performance.
