Ahead of the official unveiling of MIUI 9 on July 26th, Xiaomi has gone ahead and previewed some of the features that will be a part of it.

Firstly, Xiaomi has added three new system themes in MIUI 9: No Boundary, Color Fantasy, and Cool Black. These names are the direct translations of their Chinese name, with their English name yet to be finalised. All the three themes are pretty colorful in nature and make use of a range of colors to make them look visually appealing. This is in addition to a completely redesigned default theme.

Secondly, MIUI 9 will come with a redesigned lock screen that will provide quick access to Mi Pay, Mi Remote, Mi Home, and Transport Card. One can also quickly launch the torch by swiping right on the lock screen.

Lastly, Xiaomi also confirmed that MIUI 9 will bring Split Screen feature to its devices. However, the features will only be available on devices that will get MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0 Nougat or higher. While Xiaomi has not revealed the full list, it has confirmed that the Mi Max, Mi 6, Mi Mix, Mi Note 2, Mi Max 2, Mi 5, and Redmi Note 4X are guaranteed to receive the Split Screen feature with MIUI 9.

Xiaomi is also simplifying MIUI 9 by removing certain features that are not widely used. This includes Child Mode, WiWide, Contact Card, Showtime, and more. This will help make the ROM lighter and free up system resources.

The company also says that to ensure proper stability, performance, and an uncompromised user experience, the MIUI 9 beta will first be available for the Mi 6, Redmi Note 4 followed by its other devices in the second batch.

Xiaomi will be unveiling MIUI 9 in all its glory in just a couple of days from now. Are you looking forward to its unveiling and the new features it will pack?
