Xiaomi has revealed a list of devices that will be receiving the Android Nougat update. The company is not known for rolling out Android OS updates to its devices on a timely basis, though it does do a good job of updating MIUI for all its devices regularly with new features.
The list reveals 14 Xiaomi devices will be getting the Android Nougat update, with four of them being bumped to Android 7.1 Nougat.
The devices slated to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat include:
- Redmi 4X
- Redmi Note 4X/Redmi Note 4
- Mi Max
- Mi Note 2
- Mi MIX
- Mi 4C
- Mi 4S
- Mi 5
- Mi 5s
- Mi 5s Plus
And the following devices will be getting the Android 7.1 Nougat update:
- Mi 6
- Mi Max 2
- Mi 5C
- Redmi 4X
If your Xiaomi device is not in the list above, don’t lose hope. Xiaomi generally has a tendency of bringing the same features to all its devices through MIUI updates and Android OS updates matter very little for the company’s devices. In fact, Xiaomi’s MIUI skin is so heavy that one would be hard-pressed to find the difference between a Mi device running Nougat and Marshmallow. Additionally, in all likelihood, Xiaomi will be updating its older devices like the Redmi Note 3 to Nougat in the second wave of the rollout.
Xiaomi is also set to unveil MIUI 9, the next generation of its skin, for its devices within the next month or so. MIUI 9 is expected to be slimmer and lighter than the existing version and feature multi-window multitasking.
