In May, a report surfaced that appeared to show off the front of the upcoming, but still unofficial Samsung Galaxy S8 Active.

Since then, however, the rumor mill has been quiet on the potential arrival of the handset. Until now. As discovered by PhoneArena, a handset with the model number of SM-G892A has been discovered at the FCC, going through the usual regulatory process. That model number lines up with previous Galaxy S8 Active rumors, and the image corresponding to the filing also appears to show off a rugged handset with some familiar elements.

The image shows a handset with a noticeable bumper along the sides of the phone, adding to the ruggedized design. We can also see the camera and fingerprint layout on the back of the handset, which is right in line with the Galaxy S8 proper. There’s also the AT&T logo near the bottom edge.

The Active lineup from Samsung is an AT&T exclusive, and the layout of the camera and fingerprint reader, along with the design of the handset, all seem to line up pointing to a future where the Galaxy S8 Active is a phone people can buy.

When that will happen, though, and how much it will cost, all remain a mystery.

The Active version of the Galaxy S8 is likely going to be announced, soon, with a launch date soon after. When it arrives, do you plan on picking one up?
