Back in May, Andy Rubin’s new company, Essential, unveiled the Essential Phone — their first smartphone, which features minimized bezels and Android on board.

At the time it was confirmed that the Essential Phone is unlocked, and that it will work on all four major wireless networks in the United States. However, it was hinted at that Essential was working on a partnership with at least one wireless carrier in the U.S. to serve as the exclusive launch carrier. And it looks like those plans came through.

Today, Essential president Niccolo de Masi confirmed to USA Today that the Essential Phone will find an exclusive partner with the Sprint network. The Now Network will be reserving “premium space” in its retail stores across the United States to show off the handset, so people that might be interested in the handset will have somewhere to check it out if they are so inclined.

The Essential Phone won’t have any Sprint branding on it, and it will still be the unlocked variant. Unfortunately there’s no word on when the device will actually be in Sprint stores to check out.
