May has just started and Google has already published the latest factory and OTA files for its Nexus and Pixel devices containing the May 2017 security patches. Based on Android 7.1.2, the May 2017 build of Nougat carries the build number N2G47O.

The May 2017 security patch fixes 6 vulnerabilities with ‘Critical’ severity that were reported to Google in January or February of this year in the Mediaserver process. Google has also fixed a bunch of ‘High’ severity vulnerabilities in its Framework APIs, Mediaserver, Audioserver, and other system processes.

The OTA update for all compatible Pixel and Nexus devices — Nexus 6, Nexus 9, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player, Pixel C, Pixel, and Pixel XL — should go live over the next few days. If you cannot wait for the update to go live, you can always manually flash the OTA or the factory image on your device.
