Over the weekend, OnePlus released a new OxygenOS open beta build for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. The latest beta brings a number of new features and perhaps most importantly improves the touch latency performance on the handsets.
Among the new features present in OxygenOS Open beta 13 is a new launcher and redesigned app drawer that now looks similar to the Pixel launcher. The launcher now also supports App shortcuts, an Android 7.1.1 feature which is similar to 3D Touch on iOS.
Most importantly, though, the latest beta greatly improves the touch latency on the OnePlus 3. OnePlus was earlier criticised for the poor touch latency of the OnePlus 3, with the company’s CEO promising to look into the issue after the Nougat update was released for the device in November last year. Four months later, OnePlus have kept their promise as evident from the touch latency improvements in the latest open beta of OxygenOS. A lower touch screen latency will give the feeling of the device working more smoothly.
The full change log of the update is as follows:
- All new launcher, added support for Shortcuts on 7.1.1
- Redesigned app drawer
- Redesigned UI for launcher settings
- Added quick pay option for India
- Added status bar icon option to display real time network
- speed
- Added Notification Denoising
- Added Gaming Do Not Disturb mode
- Added automatic Night mode
- Added Secure Box for file encryption
- Optimized touch latency
- Optimized camera EIS for videos
- Improved contacts management with linking and merge functions
Being an open beta, OnePlus 3/3T owners will have to manually flash the build on their device if they are not already on the beta channel. And if they are, they will automatically get an OTA update for the latest beta on their device.
