Samsung might not have officially unveiled the Galaxy S8 at MWC this year, but the company did show off the handset to selected partners behind closed doors. Samsung showed off the handset to its selected telecom partners behind closed doors at Hotel Porta Fira, which is located very close to Fira Gran Via where MWC took place.

Samsung had set up temporary walls to ensure that no unauthorised person could get a sneak peek into the Galaxy S8. It also had heavy security to ensure no units were stolen or someone forced their way into the demo rooms it had set up. As per reports, many of Samsung’s partners who saw the device termed it as “very impressive”, though they did not reveal any key information about the device.

This was not the first time that Samsung showcased its upcoming flagship smartphone behind closed doors. The company has done something similar on previous occasions as well.

Samsung had formally announced just a day before MWC was scheduled to start that it would be unveiling the Galaxy S8 officially in New York on March 29. The handset will be available in two variants with an InfinityEdge display and a bezel-less design. The normal Galaxy S8 will have a 5.8-inch QHD+ display, while the Galaxy S8+ will come with a 6.2-inch display. The handsets will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chip, with the international variant featuring an Exynos 8890 chip. Other specs of the device include an iris scanner, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, 12MP Dual Pixel rear shooter, and an 8MP selfie shooter.
