LG has released a short 12-second teaser video highlighting and provided more details about its upcoming UX 6.0 that will be debuting with the G6 later this month.
The teaser video gives us a glimpse at the more colorful UX 6.0 which will come with rounded corners in line with the rounded edges of the 5.7-inch display of the handset. The latest version of LG’s UX will be based on Android 7.0/7.1 Nougat.
LG has also improved its Camera app to take better advantage of the 18:9 display. The new Square Camera mode in the app will divide the screen into two identical squares that allow users to shoot photos in 1:1 format which can then be easily shared on Instagram.
Similarly, the UI has been optimised to allow opening of two square windows side by side for a better multitasking experience. Other new features in UX 6.0 include the ability to make collage of photos taken from the phone and set it up as your lock screen wallpaper, Food Mode for the camera app, an updated calendar app that takes better advantage of the 18:9 display, and more.
“The LG G6 with FullVision was inspired by the philosophy of experts in the movie industry who believe that an 18:9 ratio screen would be the best solution for viewing both old and new cinematic content in the digital age,” said Juno Cho, president of the LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “We’ve not only embraced that philosophy in our newest smartphone but taken it to a whole new level by incorporating the 18:9 format in many other ways. I think users will appreciate the many ways we’ve made the LG G6 more productive.”
LG has already revealed that the G6 will come with a 5.7-inch Quad HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The handset will also come with an upgraded quad DAC for a superior audio quality, a water and dust-resistant body, and a 3200mAh battery.
LG will be unveiling the G6 at MWC on February 26.
