After the success of the Galaxy S7 edge, Samsung will now be prioritising the production of the Galaxy S8 Plus over the Galaxy S8 this year. When it first launched the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge in 2015, the company produced more units of the former. However, the edge variant turned out to be more popular among consumers despite its higher price tag.

Learning from its mistakes, Samsung rightfully produced and marketed the Galaxy S7 edge more last year. This year, with the Galaxy S8, the company plans on doing something similar and has prioritised the production of the Galaxy S8 Plus over the S8. Unlike the last two years, though, Samsung is planning on using curved displays on both variants of the Galaxy S8, with the screen size being the differentiating factor between the two.

While the regular Galaxy S8 will come with a 5.7-inch display, the Plus model is expected to come with a 6.2-inch display. While gargantuan in size, Samsung will keep the dimensions of both the devices in check by reducing the bezels at the top and bottom to a very minimum.

Nonetheless, a 5.7-inch display will be too big for most consumers. Thus, it seems unlikely to me that consumers will opt for the Galaxy S8 Plus that come
s with an even larger display, especially if the only difference between the two handsets are their screen size. If Samsung manages to add some other innovative new feature to the Plus variant of the Galaxy S8 then it might be a different story altogether.
