The Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, the 4.3 inch version of the Galaxy S4, launched in black and white, just like its bigger brother. The Russian website hit-tech-mail has obtained ultra high resolution press photos of three new colors, note that these have been processed using Google Translate: “Scarlet Dawn”, “Blue Iceberg”, and “Bronze Autumn”.

When will these colors come out? The site doesn’t offer any guesses, but judging by the fact that they’ve scored such detailed images, my gut tells me we’ll hear an announcement quite soon, maybe even next month at IFA in Berlin.

Should you buy the S4 mini? That’s a hard question to answer since I don’t know what you personally value. The 4.3 inch screen is (obviously) more compact and pocketable, but it only outputs a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. That and the CPU has been swapped for a Snapdragon 400 and the ram has been cut down to 1.5 GB.

I’m currently testing a Galaxy Mega 6.3 at the moment, which has the same internals as the S4 mini, and I can honestly say that it’s fine. It’s not as quick as my Note II, and I have been frustrated a handful of times, but the Snapdragon 400 is more than enough. I’d say the S4 mini might even be more performant since it doesn’t have to push 720p.

Your call.
