Google is giving developers a look at the next iteration of Android ahead of its public launch.
Today, Google confirmed that it is releasing the beta of Android 7.1.2, which the company confirms is meant specifically to be a maintenance update. To that end, it will focus on refinements behind-the-scenes, as well as “bugfixes and optimizations, along with a small number of enhancements for carriers and users.”
The beta is available for the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C devices, Nexus Player, and Nexus 5X right now. The Nexus 6P will get the beta release at a later date. Google says the public launch of Android 7.1.2 will happen in the next few months.
