Xiaomi today announced that it sold a staggering 250,000 units of the Redmi Note 4 in India in just 10 minutes. This is 3x the quantity of the Redmi 3S it sold on launch day and 5x when compared to the Redmi Note 3.
The Redmi Note 4 has now set a new record in India for selling the highest units in the history of online sales in 10 minutes. The interest in the handset among consumers was evident right since the phone was unveiled, with the ‘notify me’ feature on Xiaomi’s own store and Flipkart clocking over 1 million registrations.
Celebrating another milestone, Manu Jain, India Head – Xiaomi India said, ”We are really thankful to everyone for making the first sale of Redmi Note 4 a great success. We are extremely ambitious about this product and it gives me immense joy to start the year with such acceptance and love for Redmi Note 4. This love motivates us to work harder to make more quantities available for our Mi Fans and build a beautiful Redmi Note 4 story in India. We are excited as we take the first step in 2017 and look forward to achieving many more milestones this year.”
Redmi Note 4 is the successor to the highly acclaimed Redmi Note 3 from last year. The handset now features a more premium look and design compared to its predecessor along with an improved camera. It also comes with up to 20 percent better battery life despite coming with the same size battery as the Redmi Note 3 thanks to its more power-efficient Snapdragon 625 chipset.
Xiaomi will again put the Redmi note 4 on sale on Flipkart on January 30th, with the handset going on sale on Xiaomi’s own Mi store on February 3.
