LG G6 Leak

The LG G6 is still a few months away from its official unveiling, but first renders of the phone have already made their way to the internet. The renders show that the G6 will carry a design similar to the G5, right down to the fingerprint scanner and dual-camera setup at the rear.

The dimensions do suggest that the G6 will be slightly slimmer than its predecessor (72.43 vs 73.9mm), as well be slightly thinner. And unlike Apple and probably Samsung, LG is going to keep the 3.5mm audio jack around on the G6.

It cannot be identified from the leaked renders whether the G6 will continue to feature the same modular design that LG first debuted with the G5 this year.

While the idea of a modular phone sounds novel on paper, LG’s implementation was poorly executed which probably played a key role in the handset’s failure. Installing a mod on the G5 required users to switch the handset off and swap its battery which is not really convenient. Plus, the mods or ‘Friends’ as LG called them were not particularly useful or enticing either. In comparison, Motorola’s Mods implementation on its Moto Z series was far better as it allowed users to enhance the functionality of the device by simply slapping a mod at its rear without the hassle of switching the device off or taking out its battery.

The specs of the LG G6 are not yet known, but its a given that the handset will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset, feature up to 6GB RAM, and come with a Quad HD resolution screen.
