Google has released a new PhotoScan application for Android and iOS that lets you scan your old photos using your smartphone and add them to Google Photos.
The application will automatically detect the edges of the photo, straighten and rotate the image, and remove glare. Once backed up to Google Photos, the photos will be searchable and can be easily shared with your friends and family.
Unlike other applications on the Play Store, PhotoScan requires users to take multiple photos of an image from different corners which are then stitched together.

In addition to the new PhotoScan app, Google is also adding more powerful editing options to Google Photos. The Auto Enhance feature has also been improved that can now make changes like balance exposure levels and saturation levels to bring out more details. Google has also added 12 new styles to Google Photos that edit photos based on their brightness level, saturation, and other aspects. Lastly, the new Light and Color editing tools allow one to tune their photos to bring out the highlights, shadows, and warmth in them.
Google says the new photo editing tools in Google Photos will be rolling out to Android, iOS, and web from later today.
