Rewards programs are not new by any means, but when it comes to the mobile payments market, it’s still something that hasn’t found its footing.
That’s changing, at least in Samsung’s camp, with the unveiling of Samsung Rewards. As many other programs work, with Samsung Rewards, Samsung Pay users will earn points with every single transaction they make with the mobile payment option. Those points can then be used to buy other Samsung products, or gift cards to popular retailers, once they bank enough.
Samsung is also giving boosts to those who use Samsung Pay more often per month, with specific tiers for those who use the mobile payment option five times per month, 20 times per month, or up to 30 times per month:
“After a certain number of monthly transactions, enrollees will achieve different status tiers for that month to multiply the points they receive. Five transactions in one month, for example, will give a user “Silver” status and twice the points for every transaction they conduct using Samsung Pay. 20 monthly transactions awards a user “Gold” status, resulting in triple points, and 30 monthly Samsung Pay transactions puts a user in the “Platinum” tier where they earn quadruple points.”
Samsung Rewards will also have “Instant Win” packages, which will start with a trip for two to Napa Valley in California. New rewards will be offered on a regular basis.
The new rewards program is launching in the United States beginning this week.
