Google announced Duo, its brand new video calling app, earlier this year, and it officially launched last month.
Google’s proud of the app, or at least the company appears to be, as they seem to be pushing it hard for future Android smartphones. As reported by Android Police, the company has started emailing Google Mobile Services (GMS) partners to inform them that, beginning on December 1, Google Duo will be a stock app within the GMS package of apps.
That means, beginning on the first of December, Duo is replacing Hangouts on Android smartphones.
Manufacturers will need to install Duo on their Android smartphones if they intend on installing other Google apps, including Gmail.
