Samsung today officially detailed on how Galaxy Note 7 customers getting their replacement units can confirm it does not come with any faulty battery. The company confirms in its announcement that replacement Galaxy Note 7 units will come with a green battery icon in the status bar.

Additionally, the green battery icon will also be displayed on the Always On Screen and the Power off menu. This way, users will be sure that their Galaxy Note 7 does not come with a faulty battery.

You can also confirm if your replacement Galaxy Note 7 is safe or not by looking for a square symbol on the label of the box of the device.

Replacement Galaxy Note 7 units have already made their way to selected retail outlets of Best Buy, with wider availability slated from September 21st onwards. Samsung will also resume selling the Galaxy Note 7 in South Korea from early next week. Customers who have already received replacement Note 7 units have noted that their unit does not have a green battery icon, so it is likely that we will see Samsung roll out a software update later this week that will change the battery icon to green on ‘safe’ Note 7 units.

So, it makes sense for Samsung to announce a way for Note 7 owners to determine if their replacement Galaxy Note 7 unit does not have a faulty battery. And considering that FCC and other aviation companies have banned the Galaxy Note 7 from being used in-flight, the green battery icon will help officials in determining whether a particular Galaxy Note 7 unit is safe or not.
