For anyone that wishes they could easily connect to a Wi-Fi network to avoid using a terrible cellular connection, or simply to avoid using their data as often, Wi-Fi Assistant is a feature that would certainly help.
Unfortunately for anyone that hasn’t been using Project Fi, Wi-Fi Assistant has been out of reach. That is, until now. Google has officially announced that it is bringing the feature to all Nexus users –anyone that’s using a Nexus device running Android 5.1 or later– in the coming weeks. The rollout begins soon, but it will take some time to complete.
Wi-Fi Assistant will allow a Nexus users to quickly and securely connect to a Wi-Fi network that Google has verified is a strong and fast connection. Google says Wi-Fi Assistant for Nexus users will be available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and in the Nordic countries as well.
It’s a great Project Fi feature that’s seeing the light of day for more Nexus users, which is great news.
