LG today announced that its upcoming flagship handset, the V20, will be the very first smartphone to feature a built-in 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC that will allow it to deliver excellent audio quality and experience.

Last year, LG had set the bar in audio experience with the built-in Hi-Fi DAC on the V10, and it looks like with its successor this year, the company is set to raise the bar once again.

LG notes in its press release that the quad DAC will allow the V20 to deliver a sound quality that comes very close to a “live performance” provided you use compatible wired headphones. The Quad DAC configuration also helps in reducing ambient noise by up to 50 percent and allow the V20 to record high quality videos whilst video recording.

“As smartphones mature, we’re seeing more and more customers looking beyond just fast processors and big displays in their devices,” said Juno Cho, president of LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company. “Higher quality audio is simply the natural evolution of the smartphone, as the industry moves toward a more holistic multimedia consumption experience. We’re pleased to continue this long-term partnership with ESS and bring best in class audio to LG V20 users.”

The Quad HD DAC inside the LG V20 has been supplied by ESS, the same company that provided the 32-bit Hi-Fi DAC found inside the original V10.

The original V10 was lauded for its multimedia capabilities, and LG seems set to take them to the next level with the V20 this year.
