Now on Tap might not have turned out to be as big of a deal as Google tried to make it initially, but the company still has not given up on it. Today, the company is adding some new features to Now on Tap that will help in better content discovery and providing a better user experience.
The highlight of the update has to be the ability to translate the text being display on your screen using Now on Tap, even when you are inside an app. Simply bring up Now on Tap by long pressing the home button and tap the “Translate this screen” card that will then automatically translate the on-screen text into your phone’s default language.
For now, this feature is available for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian languages.
Post the update, Now on Tap will also help you in discovering new and interesting content with the new “Discover” option. Simply tap the option and you will get a stream of content related to the content on your screen.
Lastly, with this update, Google is enhancing Now on Tap’s ability to search for objects using the camera to add QR code and barcodes support. So, the next time you are shopping for something and come across an item, point your phone’s camera towards it to bring up its reviews and other relevant information using Now on Tap.
