Ahead of its official unveiling in early August, Samsung is going to start the mass production of the Galaxy Note 7 from next month. The company will be producing about 5 million units of the phone for its initial shipment in August.

The company will be producing 2.5 million phones in July and August each for a total of 5 million units. The company expects the Galaxy Note 7 to perform better than its predecessor sales wise. The latter sold around 5 million units in its launch quarter for the Korean company despite its limited availability.

The report also reaffirms that Samsung will be using a dual-edge display on the Galaxy Note 7, as seen on the Galaxy S7 edge and S6 edge+ before. The company will not be launching a ‘flat’ variant of the handset. This will be the first time that Samsung will be bringing its dual-edge display to its Galaxy Note lineup.

The Galaxy Note 7 is also expected to sport IP68 rating as the Galaxy S7. It will reportedly come with a 5.8-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 823 chipset, 6GB RAM, 32GB storage space, and a microSD card slot.

Samsung will reportedly be unveiling the Galaxy Note 7 on August 2nd. The company will be calling the handset Galaxy Note 7, instead of the Galaxy Note 6, for marketing purposes. The company thinks that this move will help it in better taking on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and will also help avoid confusion in consumer minds that the handset is inferior or older to the Galaxy S7.
