Earlier this year, Facebook confirmed that it was testing the ability to send standard text messages through its ridiculously popular Messenger app.
Apparently that testing has gone over well enough, because Facebook’s David Marcus has confirmed that the feature is now rolling out to the official Facebook Messenger for Android app. Specifically, Marcus says the feature is rolling out to “most countries,” so if you have the app installed on your phone, the new feature should be headed your way shortly.
With the ability to send text messages within the Messenger app, users will get to do a lot more than simply send text. They’ll also be able to send voice notes, one’s location, and even stickers all through SMS. The app will also work with Chat Heads, the little pop-up that shows up when someone messages the user.
The feature’s begun its rollout, so keep an eye out. Do you plan on using Messenger as your go-to text messaging app?
