Beta apps are common enough for Android, allowing developers to push out new software, and test out future updates, before rolling out the update to the public.
Google has its own Search app that offers a beta version, and now Google is adding in Google Maps as well. If you want to become a tester, which means you’ll get updates for Google Maps ahead of a public release, you can sign up right here.
Google, for its part, does mention that the app is a beta release, and designed for testing purposes, so that it could be unstable, or be littered with bugs, but that shouldn’t be too surprising.
Right now, the beta version of Google Maps is on version 9.27, while the public version is on 9.26.1. It’s probably worth noting that the Android N version of Google Maps, which is the Developer Preview version, is on version 9. (https://elemergente.com/) 30.
Do you plan on testing out the beta version of Google Maps?
