Ahead of the OnePlus 3 unveiling in June, OnePlus has announced a price drop for all their handsets. The price drop will see the $349 OnePlus 2 selling for $299, while the OnePlus X can now be had for as little as $199.
This is the second price cut that the company has announced this year. In February, the company had dropped the price of the OnePlus 2 by $40 to better take on the 2016 flagship handsets from the likes of LG and Samsung.
A quick reminder of the specs of the OnePlus 2, in case you have forgotten it. The handset packs in a Snapdragon 810 chipset, a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 4GB RAM, 64GB RAM, and a 13MP shooter with OIS. The handset also boats of a 3300mAh battery and a fingerprint scanner at the front. The OnePlus X is comes with an older Snapdragon 801 chipset, a 5-inch AMOLED display, 3GB RAM, and a 2525mAh battery, but it looks more beautiful and sleeker than the OnePlus 2.
The price drops have only been announced for the US market right now, but a similar price cut should be announced for the European and Indian market sooner than later.
Until and unless you have a limited budget, it makes little sense to buy the OnePlus 2 now, even at its discounted price. While decent, the handset’s Snapdragon 810 chipset has not aged particularly well with its overheating issues. Nonetheless, if you only have $299 to spend, the OnePlus 2 makes for a great buy.
