Any big news regarding Project Ara, what was once Motorola’s project and now Google’s big endeavor, has been relatively quiet as of late.
But on the last day of Google I/O, Google has released a pretty big update regarding what’s coming down the line, including a video showcasing plenty of features that future devices can expect to boast. However, the biggest part of the update comes from the fact that Google will launch a developer edition of Project Ara later in 2016.
Adding to that: Google plans for the consumer-ready version of Project Ara to launch in 2017.
The video, which you can watch below, shows how the modular Project Ara works, the features that are baked into the modules, and just how quickly and easily the modules are put into place and removed.
