Google is rolling out an update for Google Translate for Android that introduces a new Tap to Translate feature that makes it possible to translate text within an app to a language of your choice without leaving that app.

Simply install the latest update to Translate, highlight the comment, chat or a snippet of text that you want to translate, tap the copy button and a Translate bubble will pop up on screen with the translated text.

The feature works with more than 103 languages and on any Android phone that is running Jelly Bean (4.2) or higher.

Google is also rolling out an update for the iOS version of Translate that adds Offline mode to it. The feature has been present in the Android version of the app for sometime, and from today, the company is reducing the offline package files by 90 percent.

Lastly, the update adds Chinese language support to the Word Lens feature in Translate. This make it possible to simply point your camera to a Chinese menu, sign or printed text to convert it into English.
