HTC today announced a new Desire handset in Taiwan — its home market: the Desire 830. Successor to the Desire 820, the 830 retains the same plastic build as its predecessor.

The front design of the handset has been updated and now it looks similar to the One X9. This leads to the BoomSound speaker being better integrated into the front chassis of the phone. The 5.5-inch display on the front of the phone now sports a Full HD resolution. Internally, there is an octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 chipset powering the handset, along with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The phone also features a microSD card slot.

The rear of the phone houses a 13MP camera with OIS and a single LED flash, while the front houses a 4MP ‘UltraPixel’ shooter. The 7.79mm thick phone will only be available in white, with accented speakers, sides and camera ring. The two color options from HTC include blue and orange.

Along with the Desire 830, HTC also launched the Desire 825. The specs of the handset are not yet known as of now, but HTC says that the rear design of the handset is like a canvas for an artist. It has been designed using a special nozzle and pigment that gives the every unit of the Desire 825 a unique look. It will be available in white and gray night colors.

The Desire 830 will retail in Tawian for NT$ 9,990 million from May 6 at HTC’s retail and online stores. It will also be available through Taiwan Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, and Far EasTone telecommunications. The Desire 825 has a suggested retail price of NT$ 7,990 million and will be available from May 3 through HTC’s online and offline stores and Chunghwa Telecom.
