Alongside the HTC 10, HTC also unveiled an upgraded version of its Dot View cover dubbed Ice View. In a nutshell, the Ice View case is a more functional — albeit less stylish — version of the company’s Dot View case that also offers better protection.
The Ice View case features a translucent plastic in the front instead of a plastic case with holes in it like on the Dot View.
This means that 10 owners will be able to do more with their Ice View case compared to Dot View. This includes being able to take photos, read messages, control music player, toggle flashlight and more, all without opening the case. And unlike Dot View, Ice View case also supports notifications from third-party apps like Tumblr, Google+, and WhatsApp.
All this functionality does come at a steep price of $49.99 though. However, if you are willing to wait, the price of the case should crash to a more reasonable $30 on third-party retailers like Amazon within a few months.
When HTC had initially launched its Dot View case, it was unique and novel, but since then other OEMs have also started offering similar cases for their handset. With Ice View, HTC is once again one-upping the competition, as its implementation in Ice View is arguably superior than other such offerings currently in the market right now.
