To promote the launch of the LG G5, LG has released an ad for the phone starring Jason Statham as….everyone! The ad shows Statham watching a video on his LG G5 in a subway, with fellow Statham-standers joining him, which then eventually turns to a couple of them fighting with each others.
The 1 minute long ad shows the action hero donning quite a bit of other roles, but that is not the highlight here. The highlight is how Jason uses various modules on the G5 depending on what the situation demands for. The ad also shows various ‘Friends’ of the G5 including the Hi-Fi Music DAC and the 360 VR headset.

The ad does show the G5 as being instantly ready for use after switching modules, which is obviously not true. However, ads are not really a true representative of how a phone works in real life and LG gets away by putting a small footnote “Dramatization: a battery change requires the phone to be turned on manually” in the video.
As a quick reminder, the LG G5 went on sale in South Korea yesterday and in the United States from today. The handset features a modular design that allows certain of its aspects to be enhanced by attaching modules. The modular design of the handset is not the only ace up its sleeve though. Even without its Friends, the G5 is an impressive handset packing in a 5.3-inch Quad HD IPS LCD display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, a dual-lens camera setup at the rear and a removable 2,800mAh battery.
