Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro

Xiaomi today unveiled a ‘Pro’ variant of its budget-oriented handset: the Redmi 3. The handset was originally unveiled in January and has only been on sale in China so far.

The Redmi 3 ‘Pro’ is a slightly beefed up version of the Redmi 3. It sports the same design and specs as its normal sibling, except that it comes with 3GB RAM, 32GB storage and a fingerprint sensor located at its rear. The original Redmi 3 features 2GB RAM, 16GB of storage and lacked a fingerprint scanner.

Other specs of the handset, which remain the same as the original Redmi 3, include a 5-inch 720p HD display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, dual-SIM functionality, microSD card slot, LTE connectivity, Snapdragon 616 chipset, and a 4,100mAh battery. Out of the box, the Redmi 3 Pro will run on MIUI 7 that will be based on Lollipop.

The Redmi 3 Pro will be available in silver, grey and gold colors. It will go on sale from April 4 in China for RMB 899 (~$145) — the same day on which Xiaomi’s Mi Fan Festival begins. For comparison, the original Redmi 3 was priced at RMB 699.
