According to analysts in Korea, the initial sales and pre-orders of Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones — the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge — in key markets like China, Europe and India have beaten previous expectations.

Analysts believe that the re-introduction of a microSD card slot, waterproofing abilities, improved camera performance and a slightly lower retail price have helped Samsung to once again attract customers in key markets.

“With a little design overhaul compared to the S6, Samsung added several consumer-friendly hardware features such as a revival of the microSD slot,” Shinhan Financial analyst So Hyun-chul said in a report to clients, Sunday. “So far, S7 sales are looking very good.”

Citing sources, an analyst also said that Samsung has seen a 250 percent increase in preorder sales of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge over the Galaxy S6 in Europe.

In China, analysts believe Samsung has received more than 10 million preorders for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge combined, though an estimate from SamMobile puts this number close to the 15 million mark.

Samsung has been struggling to capture the Chinese market, where Apple and other local Chinese OEMs have been ruling the consumers mind. This is despite the company coming out with some impressive handsets last year, which for some reason did not appeal to the taste of Chinese consumers. Whatever the case might be, Samsung seems to have learnt its lesson as the changes it has made in the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge seems to have worked, with consumers flocking to buy the handset.

Have you purchased a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge yet? If yes, how has your experience with the phone been so far?
