Google will unveil the next iteration of its Android platform at Google I/O later this year, but a glimpse of what could be coming has already made its way online.
As reported by Android Police, there appears to be a slight change to the Settings app in the upcoming version of the platform. Google posted a blog post that detailed an updated version of the Android Support Library, and may have also inadvertently leaked an interesting detail about the software at the same time. With the included screenshots, there appears to what looks to be a hamburger button in the Settings app.
There’s no mention of the new button in the blog post proper, and this isn’t something that’s available in Android Marshmallow, so it’s certainly new. According to the report, tapping that button will bring up the various Settings sections, which should make navigation even easier and quicker. (https://insider-gaming.com)
Whether or not this makes it into the final version of Android N is anyone’s guess at this point. It’s possible that Google is simply testing this hamburger button now, and it might not make it into the public release.
