Thanks to the prices of Android tablets hitting rock bottom, the sales of Amazon’s Kindle series has taken a huge hit. In a bid to revive the Kindle brand and following its yearly update cycle, Amazon is working on three new Kindles with some seriously impressive specs as reported by the folks at BGR.
The 7-inch Kindle Fire replacement from Amazon is going to use a panel with a slightly higher resolution of 1280*800, up from its current resolution of 1024*600. The higher-end 7-inch Kindle Fire HD display will also be upgraded to a full HD resolution (1920*1080), up from its current resolution of 1280*800. (ameriseed.net) Lastly, the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD display will be bumped to a whopping 2560*1600, putting the tablet ahead of Apple and Samsung in the ppi race.
Amazon is also expected to re-design the tablets, and move the power and volume buttons from the side of the devices to the sloping back so as to prevent accidental key press. The company is also trying to reduce the weight of the tablets as much as possible.
Regarding the pricing, BGR sources tells them that the company will aim to sell the tablets at their current prices only, but the final pricing is not yet confirmed. Amazon is expected to release the updated Kindle series sometime in September this year.
