LG G5 modular design

We have already heard from various sources and leaks that the LG G5 will feature a completely new all-metal design with a ‘Magic Slot’ at its bottom. Confirming those leaks to be legit once again, sources of The Verge have informed the publication that LG is indeed going in for a complete redesign with its upcoming flagship phone.

The redesign is meant to make sure that the G5 looks “nothing” like its previous Android smartphones, and will see the volume buttons being relocated to the right edge of the handset. Since the G2, LG has switched to placing the volume button on the rear of its handsets across all its devices, but now the company is once again moving it back to their original place. One key reason behind this move is to accommodate the dual camera setup at the rear of the handset.

The Verge’s source also confirmed that the G5 will come with a ‘Magic Slot’ at its bottom, but it is unclear what its exact role is going to be. However, it is clear that this slot will help LG in differentiating the G5 from all other flagship smartphones in the market.

LG will be unveiling the G5 at Mobile World Congress next month on February 21. The company has also confirmed that it will be launching two new flagship devices this year.
