Sony today announced a new variant “warm, sophisticated pink” variant of the Xperia Z5. Aside from the color change, the pink variant of the Xperia Z5 is exactly the same as the original Z5 that was announced by Sony in September at IFA 2015.
Getting that “sophisticated pink” color on the Xperia Z5 was not an easy task though. To get the tone right with the frosted glass and aluminium frame of the handset, Sony had to research for the different shades of pink which ranged from places like Japan’s own Sakura cherry blossom to the colors in the sky during a beautiful sunset.
Lead designer on the project Rikke Gertsen Constein talked about the thinking behind the new design saying, “Choosing a colour is a detailed process. The material of the phone and the design of the curves and edges play an important role and has a great impact on which colour is best suited. We knew we wanted to add pink to the Z5 series from our very first moodboards and sketches as it seemed to compliment the colour palette to the rest of the range.”
As for a quick reminder of its specs, the Xperia Z5 comes with a Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3GB RAM, a 5.2-inch Full HD display, an integrated fingerprint scanner into its home button, up to two days of battery life thanks to a 2900mAh battery, and a 23MP 1/2.3″ rear camera with a wide-angle G Lens.
The pink variant of the Xperia Z5 will go on sale from February in selected markets.
