Asus’ second Android Wear smartwatch, the ZenWatch 2, has gone up for sale in India. With prices starting at Rs. 11,999, the ZenWatch 2 is the cheapest Android Wear smartwatch to launch in the country and is available in three different variants.
The aforementioned price is for the base 1.45-inch model with a 22 mm rubber band, with a leather variant priced at Rs. 14,999. The 1.63-inch model (with an 18 mm strap) is priced the same as the leather variant of the smaller model, and all three models are available for purchase exclusively through retailer Flipkart. The watch will also be available through exclusive Asus stores at some point in the future. Color options include silver and gunmetal for the 1.45-inch model, and only silver for the larger variant.
The ZenWatch 2 comes with a Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 280×280 pixels and 320×320 pixels on the 1.45-inch and 1.63-inch models respectively, and a Snapdragon 400 processor and 512MB of RAM under the hood. There’s 4GB of on-board storage, and the ZenWatch 2 also comes with a microphone. Like every other Android Wear smartwatch, the ZenWatch 2 is IP67 water-resistant.
Asus has built a few features on top of Android Wear, such as the ability to mute calls by covering the display and an app for designing watch faces. Battery life is quoted at two to three days, with the two models featuring 300 mAh and 400 mAh batteries.
