Xiaomi today launched its new handset meant specifically for the Indian market: the Redmi Note Prime. The budget phablet is essentially a bigger version of the Redmi 2 Prime and shares largely the same internals as it.

On the outside, the Redmi Note Prime features a 5.5-inch 720p resolution display housed inside its 9.45mm thin and 185g heavy body.

Under the hood, the Note Prime comes with a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, an Adreno 306 GPU and 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM. Other notable specs of the device include 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, LTE and dual-SIM connectivity, dual mic for noise reduction, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and GPS. All this is powered by a non-removable 3100mAh battery.

As for the cameras, the Note Prime features a 13MP shooter at the rear with an f/2.2 aperture that is accompanied by an LED flash and a 5MP selfie shooter. The rear camera is capable of recording videos in Full HD resolution and features zero shutter lag and face recognition. On the software front, the Redmi Note Prime runs on MIUI 7 that is based on Android 4.4 KitKat.

The Redmi Note Prime will go sale in Amazon India from tomorrow for Rs. 8,499.
