New Google logo

Google, one of the entities under the parent umbrella of the newly-formed Alphabet, is sporting some new logo duds.

On Monday, September 1, Google officially unveiled a brand new logo for the company which, according to the company’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, reflects “all the ways you use Google.” The reason for the change is to better establish that Google is no longer just a place you visit on your computer, but that Google’s footprint is in just about everything at this point.

So why are we doing this now? Once upon a time, Google was one destination that you reached from one device: a desktop PC. These days, people interact with Google products across many different platforms, apps and devices—sometimes all in a single day. You expect Google to help you whenever and wherever you need it, whether it’s on your mobile phone, TV, watch, the dashboard in your car, and yes, even a desktop!

The company is getting rid of the lower-case, blue-tinted “g” that used to be so prominent for Google’s products, and replacing it wit the multi-colored “G” that better matches the overall logo of the company moving forward.
