Sony is known to launch a new flagship handset every six months. The company’s previous flagship handset, the Xperia Z3+/Z4, failed to make an impression, but it looks like the company is all set to impress everyone with one of the variants of its upcoming flagship: the Xperia Z5 Premium.
While we have already seen the Xperia Z5 leak in some press renders, not much was known about the handset. Thanks to the latest set of leaks though, it is now known that Sony plans on launching three different variants of the Xperia Z5: a Compact version with a 4.6-inch 720p display, a normal variant with a 5.2-inch 1080p display, and a ‘Premium’ variant with a 5.5-inch display with a staggering 4K resolution.

The presence of a 4K resolution display on the Xperia Z5 Premium was confirmed by Sony’s marketing director in a leaked video from Clubic. This means that the device will feature a pixel density of over 800 pixels per inch — an insane number and density. The video also confirms the presence of a 23MP shooter on the handset, which should hopefully provide better performance than its predecessors.
Since the video is not in English, there is still a slight possibility that there was a translation error and the marketing director was talking about a Quad HD resolution screen on the Xperia Z5 Premium. Thankfully, Sony will be unveiling its new flagship handsets in less than a couple of days now at the IFA event show floor in Berlin, so we won’t have to wait for long now to see if the Z5 Premium indeed comes with a 4K resolution screen or not.
