Samsung will announce its new Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ on August 13 at its Unpacked event in New York City, according to a new report out of South Korea. Both devices are expected to go on sale before the end of next month.
Recent reports have suggested that Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 5 early this year — new Galaxy Note devices are traditionally announced at the IFA trade show in September — in an effort to get them to market ahead of Apple’s next-generation iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Samsung was initially expected to announce the devices on August 12, but now a new report from Business Korea confirms that they will arrive at the company’s August 13 event.
The upcoming Galaxy Note 5, which sports the SM-N920F model number, has already been spotted entering India for research and development purposes, so we know its launch its close. We’ve also seen lots of leaked photos of this and the S6 edge+ in recent weeks.
Samsung is expected to make both handsets available before the end of August, and it’s thought the company will put more effort into marketing the S6 edge+ — which is essentially a larger version of the existing S6 edge — over the Note 5.
